Relocation to a new city is a huge step and you should always investigate the area before you go. If your employer or a brand new employer offers you an attractive new position and you need to move in order to accept it, make sure you are fully prepared for the move. Even if your new job location is in the same region or county, moving can be difficult and stressful without proper planning. moving can be a nightmare if it is not properly planned

  • Before a relocation, certain things must be considered:
  • The Local Culture of the area – All countries have their own unique and diverse culture.
  • The cost of living – While a salary rise may look attractive initially, make sure it takes into account the cost of living in the area you are relocating to.
  • Alternatives – In case things don’t work out, are there alternative companies in the new area?. In this ecomnomic climate, a job for life is not a given. Things change, so be prepared if the worse comes to the worse.
  • Your family – If you have children, or are planning to have children, education should be a top priority. Are there decent schools is the new area. What are the job prospects for your partner in the new area?
  • Size Matters – What environment are you used to and will the new location mean more stress?
  • Relocation is a big step,so consider all of your options before taking that step.
