People have been using cardboard as an option for packaging for over two hundred years. Corrugated cardboard was introduced around one hundred years ago and was first used as protective packaging for cereals. As time has moved on, corrugated cardboard is now most people’s choice of material to package many different types of goods. These boxes offer structural rigidity while at the same time supplying good cushioning ability. This means they are suitable for both heavy and fragile goods.
Customised cardboard boxes are also possible. This gives many options to enable people to design and build boxes for specific needs. Examples of features that can be customised are; types of board used, sizes of the fluting, density of board, adhesives, coatings and treatments applied to the cardboard which include static control and fire retardant protection.
The versatility of these boxes makes them a lot easier to handle. Cardboard can be cut and folded into many different shapes and sizes, and can be made to look appealing with direct printing for branding purposes as mentioned before.
Of course, you don’t have to use the boxes just for packing. When you have finished with them, they make great toys for children! Kids love to imagine cardboard boxes as fire engines and police cars amongst other things providing hours of fun.
